About Me
My name is Nompumelelo (Mpumi) Peter. I was born and raised in Springs, Ekurhuleni Johannesburg (SA). I graduated from the University of South Africa with a Bachelors Degree in Financial Management. I am an emerging artist with the love and passion for art.
I do not limit myself to one medium, style or concept as inspiration and ideas change. My creativity is expressed in many ways, but my preferred medium includes oil painting, fabric and patterns. I bring my personal love for African fashion into a lot of my artworks by using African fabrics and patterns. I am influenced by my continent; my surroundings and how Africans have embraced their blackness. Each piece I create is a celebration of my African heritage embracing my culture and acknowledging my worth.
My work has recently been shown at the Pretoria Art Museum as part of the Sasol New Signature Art Competition 2021 Exhibition. I've also participated in a group Exhibitions at Thomarts Gallery (The Marc) in 2019 and in 2020.
With brushes and paint as my instrument I bridge the gap between our souls and inspiration.
